Thank you for this season of life, and for all the ways you are working to help me live more like you did when you were on earth.
Help me to see the ways I am causing or allowing harm in our world’s many broken systems. Save me from asphyxiating on my sense of innocence and narcissism.
Convict me. Give me wisdom for how I can act. Train me how to use my voice.
In your mercy, bless me with regular, jarring reminders that NONE of this is about me. Thank you for all the ways you are at work in our world: bringing your hope, healing, justice, and sharing your message of life.
Convict me of all the ways I am straying from your heart and your mission. Give me the strength and humility to follow where I see you and the courage to partner where you are at work.
“Your new moons and your appointed festival my soul hates.
They have become a burden to me.
I am weary of bearing them.
When you stretch out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you.
Even though you make many prayers, I will not listen.
Your hands are full of blood.
Wash yourselves. Make yourselves clean.
Remove the evil of your doings from before my eyes.
Cease to do evil. Learn to do good.
Seek justice. Rescue the oppressed.
Defend the orphan. Plead for the widow.
Come now, let us argue it out, says the LORD.
Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be like snow.
Though they are crimson, they shall become like wool.
If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.
But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword.
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
